Major contracts and collaborations at IDEX and NAVDEX 2025
IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 witnessed a series of significant defense contracts, with both local and international firms securing major deals. The contracts spanned various defense sectors, including naval systems, advanced weaponry, armored vehicles, and cybersecurity.
These agreements not only highlighted the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities but also reinforced its strategic partnerships with global defense companies.
UAE’s EDGE Group secures multi-billion-dollar contracts
One of the biggest winners of the exhibition was EDGE Group, the UAE’s leading defense conglomerate, which signed multiple high-value contracts. Emirati state-owned defense and technology conglomerate EDGE Group wrapped up IDEX 2025 with a total of US$2.9 billion (AED 10.65 billion) deals and the launch of 46 innovative solutions across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.
Among the deals was a $1.18 billion deal for the development of technical support systems for the country’s naval forces and a EUR 500 million deal by MAESTRAL, a naval joint venture with Fincantieri, for the UAE’s naval fleet support.
Additionally, the group secured a $1.19 billion contract for the supply of MK bombs (Phase 2). These agreements demonstrate the UAE’s trust in EDGE and solidify its contribution to the country’s broader goal of expanding indigenous defense manufacturing.

Hamad Al Marar, EDGE’s Managing Director & CEO, commented on the success, emphasizing the strong support from both local and international partners and the company’s ongoing ambition as a global leader in advanced technology.
“IDEX 2025 gave us the ideal platform from which we showcased how far we have come and the heights we are aiming for in the future as a global leader in advanced technology for the defense and civilian spheres,” he added.
International Golden Group’s investment in navigation systems
The International Golden Group (IGG), a key player in the UAE’s defense sector, secured a $39.5 million contract for the purchase of an E-LORAN system, a next-generation long-range navigation system designed to provide highly accurate positioning services even in GPS-denied environments.
This acquisition is part of the UAE’s efforts to enhance its navigation and electronic warfare capabilities, ensuring reliable operations for military forces even under challenging conditions.
CLS Automotive Technologies strengthens the UAE’s Armored Fleet
Another major contract was awarded to CLS Automotive Technologies, which secured a $642 million deal to supply IFV Wahsh armored vehicles. These vehicles are known for their superior protection, advanced mobility, and adaptability to various combat environments.
The contract aims to modernize the UAE’s ground forces, providing them with enhanced protection and firepower. The IFV Wahsh has been recognized for its innovative design, integrating state-of-the-art armor and weapon systems, making it a formidable asset on the battlefield.

Naval Group’s expertise in shipbuilding and naval maintenance makes it a strategic partner for the UAE as the country continues to develop its blue-water navy capabilities.
Lockheed Martin expands UAE partnership
The U.S.-based defense giant Lockheed Martin continued to strengthen its long-standing partnership with the UAE, securing two significant deals. The first was a $116.9 million contract to adapt and integrate the new Sidewinder missiles, which are essential for air-to-air combat operations.
These advanced missiles will provide the UAE Air Force with enhanced targeting and engagement capabilities. Additionally, Lockheed Martin secured a $7.3 million contract for technical support services, ensuring the operational readiness and maintenance of key defense systems.
The continued collaboration between Lockheed Martin and the UAE reflects the Emirates’ strategy of integrating cutting-edge Western defense technology into its military operations.
