Asia-Pacific, News April 15, 2015 No Comments on Pakistan successfully launches nuclear-capable ballistic missilePakistan on Wednesday successfully test-fired a new ballistic missile which is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads up to a distance of 1,300 kilometers, according to Inter Services Public Relations.
The launch, conducted by a strategic missile group of the Army Strategic Forces Command, was aimed at testing the operational and technical readiness of the command.
Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated the Strategic Forces, scientists and engineers on the achievement.
While congratulating the scientists, engineers and all ranks of Strategic Forces, Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General Zubair Mahmood Hayat expressed his full satisfaction over the excellent standard achieved by the Strategic Forces, which was reflected by proficient handling of the weapon system in the field as well fulfillment of operational and technical objectives.
Lieutenant General Zubair also emphasised that Pakistan can be justifiably proud of its defence capability as well as its nuclear deterrence.
The launch was witnessed by senior officers from Strategic Plans Division, strategic forces and scientists and engineers belonging to strategic organisations.
