Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz visited Paris for an official meeting with his French counterpart, the Minister of Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu.
In a pivotal development of strategic defense cooperation, the two countries signed several agreements that aim to fortify the defense capabilities of both nations and signify a broader commitment to security and stability in the region.
According to Saudi Arabia’s state-owned media, the meeting between the two defense chiefs focused on regional and international developments, along with various topics of mutual interest.
During his visit, the Saudi Defense Minister also engaged in discussions with key executives and top representatives from prominent French defense manufacturers, including Naval Group, Dassault Aviation, and MBDA. The purpose of these meetings was to examine opportunities for enhanced collaboration in military industries, research and development, and the transfer of technology.
Regional security and stability
The Saudi Defense Minister met with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, delving into the multifaceted aspects of bilateral relations between the Kingdom and France. The high-profile meeting revolved around discussions focusing on regional peace and stability.
“Upon the directives of HRH the Crown Prince, I met with Emmanuel Macron,” Prince Khalid posted on social media. “I had the honor of conveying the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. We also reviewed our bilateral relations.”
Prince Khalid also went aboard a French naval frigate Chevalier Paul and observed a demonstrative air defense exercise featuring Rafale aircraft along with French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu.
“I had the opportunity to watch an air defense exercise involving Rafale aircraft. I also explored the frigate’s defense capabilities and advanced technologies and equipment,” Prince Khalid added in his social media post.

“It was great to have you on board, to witness together the French army expertise, world-class equipment, and leadership. Thank you for joining us,” Lecornu responded to Prince Khalid on social media.
